Committee Information

The Wilson PTA is made up of a number of different committees to help organize and implement all the activities done through the year for the students and staff of Wilson Elementary. Each committee has committee chairperson and a number of parent volunteers to help carry out the activities. Below you will find a list of the committees and chairperson contact information.


Arts Alive
An event that transforms our gym and cafeteria into an art gallery featuring artwork from Wilson students. In addition, families and friends have the opportunity to enjoy musical performances by each grade level that were learned in their individual music classes.

Family Fun Night
A few times a year, the PTA sponsors and fun filled night of a family activities. Volunteer opportunities include planning, coordination.

Pie Sale
Every fall we host a pie sale fundraiser. They are delicious and great to have on hand during the holiday season.

Track n Field
In the spring 3rd – 5th grade get a track and field day! It is filled with fun competition. Parents are needed to help with all of the activities.

Assemblies
Throughout the year, the PTA and Wilson sponsors various assemblies. Last year, we had the anti-bullying musical-comedy duo of Josh and Gab and the zoo.
Fifth Grade
Each year the parents of Wilson 5th graders get together to help make the 5th graders of Wilson’s last year at Wilson great.

Purse Bingo

In the fall we have a purse BINGO event in which the prizes are designer purses such as: Coach, Kate Spade, Michael Kors to name a few. It’s a great afternoon to get together with friends and support the kids at Wilson.

Barnes & Noble Night
Once a year we team up with Barnes & Noble to have a fun exciting night. There will be readings by teachers, games and portion of the proceeds of books purchased that evening will go to Wilson.

Every year Kindergarten through 2nd grade get a Fun in the Sun day! It is filled with games, crafts and a whole lot of fun! Parent volunteers are needed to help with all of the exciting activities,

Read-a-Thon
In conjunction with Dr. Seuss birthday the PTA sponsors a read-a-thon. Wilson students ask their families and friends to sponsor them to read. A fun way to encourage children to read.

Wellness Walk
The annual Wellness Walk is a fun family fundraiser event for the Wilson PTA. Wilson students are asked to gather family and friends to sponsor them for walking laps around the school. Families are encouraged to attend and walk with their children. This is a great way to donate to the PTA without having to buy anything.

Birthday Books

Provided by the Wilson PTA, every student at Wilson receives one book during the week of their birthday.

Holiday Sing-Along
Each December the PTA collaborates with the music department to have a family sing a-long. There are crafts, songs and the big guy himself!

Reflections
Reflections is a national art appreciation and recognition program for students sponsored by the National PTA. At the local level, students submit entries that are recognized, judged and then celebrated by the Wilson PTA.

Wilson Wonders
For 4 weeks from end of school day to 4:30 pm Wilson offers a variety of classes such as tennis, cooking, mad science, lego to name a few. The PTA subsidizes to help keep the cost down.

Book Fair
The Scholastic Book fair takes place two times throughout the school year. Students have the opportunity to buy books and other items with their class. Parent volunteers are needed to help with class visits to the book fairs.

Junior Achievement
A fun national project that brings a parent into the classroom. Volunteers are asked to present five grade-level appropriate lessons focusing on business and economics. JA provides the lesson plans and all of the needed materials. One parent volunteer is needed for each classroom.

Santa’s Workshop

Santa’s workshop comes to Wilson Elementary in early December. Wilson students have the opportunity to shop for affordable gifts for the family, friends and even pets! Volunteers are needed to help the students select gifts and wrap them.

Yearbook
Wilson Elementary School’s yearbook is designed created and sold through the PTA. Parent volunteers are needed to capture photos throughout the year and design a page. One parent volunteer is needed for each classroom.

Fair in the Woodlands
The 3rd week in August Findlay township hosts a fair in the woodlands. The PTA has game booth to provide fun for the kids. It is a way to give back to our community and have fun.

Making Memories
New this year the PTA is working with the Art department to turn your child’s artwork into keepsakes. Your child will submit artwork and you will be able to purchase it on various items such as mugs, ornaments, key chains and coasters.

Staff Appreciation
In the fall and in the spring the PTA sponsors a Staff appreciation luncheon and week to show the staff of Wilson how thankful we are to have them helping our kids. Volunteers needed for set up, donations, and coordinating.
